Full Name: Dr John Robert Smith
Alias: The Doctor
Age: 33
Date of Birth: 5th May 1976
Nationality: English
Martial Status: Widowed.
Relatives:
Robert Smith (father.)
Julie Smith (mother.)
Rachel Sutherland (wife, deceased 2005.)
Parker Sanders (adopted son.)
Appearance: At 6', the Doctor has a lanky and tall frame that seems to suit him quite well. He has a head of usually wildly styled brown hair, and short, neat sideburns. He often adopts a quirky dress sense that could be described a 'geek-chic'; opting for a casual look that somehow manages to remain clean and tidy. He has a tendency to be adventurous with his style, mixing items of clothing that one wouldn't normally do. Out of work, his appearance remains relaxed, with a stylistic edge, such as a printed t-shirt and jeans, with a suit jacket or hoodie. When at work, he usually wears a well-fitting suit, equipped with a colourful tie. There's a haphazardness about his look, one of the suit buttons is often undone and tie slackened. Bizarrely, he finishes this outfit with scuffed trainers for maximum comfort and often wears dark-rimmed spectacles for reading.
Personality: Quirky and enthusiastic, the Doctor often sports a bright smile for those who greet him. He's a flippant and energetic character, whose cheerful façade appears to sometimes mask inner emotions. He has a great desire for learning new things, finding everything in the world interesting and worth knowing about, no matter what the challenge. He does have a bit of a egotistical pride on him, as a result, stemming from his teenaged years, for he's aware of his vast range of knowledge. He still retains guilt and grief from the loss of his wife a few years ago, but is becoming better at understanding the difference between tainting her memory and still having to live his life. An openly cheerful man, it's difficult to anger him, but when pushed he can adopt a cold temper and become darkly bitter. He has a strong sense of morals, even if they've sometimes become personally blurred in the past. He hates for them to be violated, and at times, his anger to injustice has earned him an enemy or two.
Mutation: He is able to manipulate molecules on a structural level, thus granting him the power to heal injuries, change mass and duplicate structures. This power could have tremendous strength if used in battle, but he's doesn't approve of violence and hasn't trained his powers to be offensive. He has recently been experimenting in controlling molecular structure in order to levitate mass; as a form of telekinesis. His abilities are at their most powerful being used to heal, which is what he has spent his life training them for.
History:
John Smith was born and bred in Manchester, England, where he lived his life as an only child with his mother and father. He discovered his mutant powers at the age of 14, when playing in a disused quarry with school mates, he slipped and fell down the rocky edge and into the chasm. He survived the fall, but was severely injured. It was only as he lay there on the hard earth did he realise the pain was weakening, and the wounds he had suffered closed up. Minutes after his fall, John was able to stand and walk without pain, and realised that, somehow, he was different from the normal human being.
It was from then on that the quiet Northern lad became thingyier. With his new-found abilities came a sense of self-assuredness and arrogance. He acted as if he was almost untouchable, unafraid by threats from older boys which got him into a few fights. Not even his parents quite understood how their well-mannered little boy had turned into a rebel of a teenager, and assumed this was some 'phase', for despite the number of times he was hauled up in front of the headmaster for cheek, John was surprisingly efficient in his work for a troublemaker.
He completed education to his A Levels at a high-standard before he attended Manchester Medical School at the age of 19 where he studied and successfully graduated from his five year course. During his life at university, he had grown out of the rebel phase, and had calmed down his arrogance somewhat. At 24, he moved to London with his long-term girlfriend, Rachel Sutherland after getting employed as an intern at St Thomas' Hospital in Lamberth, London. It was shortly after their move to the capital that the pair became engaged and were married a year later.
During the next five years, John occasionally gave guest lecturer speeches at medical schools in London and was promoted through the Accident and Emergency Department for being one of the finest doctors to ever enter the place. Of course, whilst he had strong medical skills, John used his powers to help heal his patients, and none of them ever found out. To that day, the only people who knew were his wife and parents. It was also during this time and John and his wife had been trying to start a family, and soon enough, they were successful. However, after a number of months into the pregnancy had passed, Rachel was involved in a horrific car accident. John had not been working a shift that evening, or else he would have been one of the doctors on duty. When he arrived at the hospital, he was not allowed into the ER to help her, where he feels he would have been able to save her life with his mutant powers had he been given a chance. On the 10th February 2005, John lost his wife and unborn son.
John spent the next three years living alone in London, still coming into work every day and doing his job, saving lives. His parents constantly begged him to move back to Manchester, so he was around his family and could be taken care of whilst he grieved, but he became far too determined in his desire to stop people dying. However, by the time his 31st birthday rolled round, the badgering on his wellbeing from family and friends broke his resolve, and he abruptly resigned from the hospital and sold up his home and belongings. He gave a short explanation for those dear to him before he dropped his real name and adopted the 'Doctor' mutant alias. He left the UK in May 2007 in the midst of what his family believed to be some kind of break-down.
Since then, he has become employed at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, where he's a part of the medical staff and also teaches Biology and Chemistry. He keeps relatively tight-lipped about his personal life, and his history in England, but during his time there, more has been revealed, especially to his now long-term girlfriend Dia Sanders.
Other:
- The Doctor owns a new royal blue MINI Cooper D.
- He owns a four bedroomed house in Bedford, New York.
- He has a basset hound puppy given to him as a gift from Dia, who goes by the name of Darwin.
- He has been dating Dia Sanders since July 2007.
