Name: Piotr “Peter” Nikolaievitch Rasputin.
Alias: Colossus.
Age: 26.
Birthday: 07/20/86.
Hometown: Lake Baikal, Soviet Siberia.
Family:
Nikolai Rasputin | Father
Alexandra Natalya Rasputin | Mother
Illyana Nikolievna Rasputin | Sister
Appearance: Piotr is rather large, standing at a whopping 6'6” without even using his powers and becoming 7'5” when he is. He doesn't smile often, usually looking impassive, and when he does it brings out his already handsome features. He's a very casual dresser and sometimes a bit scruffy, but is often clean shaven with his black hair cropped short to keep from looking like a woolly mammoth.
Personality: Despite the fearful and towering appearance of his mutation, Piotr is kind and gentle, always ready to help whoever is in need. He's a man of few words, enjoying the silence of a good book or the soft sounds of his pencil sketching, but he's not opposed to conversation. Piotr has a good heart and is very loyal to those who prove they can be trusted.
Powers: Piotr is able to transform his body into an organic steel at will, granting him superhuman strength, stamina, and durability. He cannot become partially or selectively armored, his body either fully transformed or not. He increases in size, weight and strength during the transformation. This armor protects him from most injuries, able to withstand ballistic penetration and extreme temperatures.
History: Piotr was born in Soviet Siberia to Nikolai and Alexandra Natalya Rasputin. He was raised in a very strict household with socialist and atheist views and schooled in both Russian and English, along with his younger sister, Illyana. Piotr was five years older than her, but she was still his best friend and they normally stuck together in the commune rather than interacting with the other children.
Unlike his sister, Piotr wasn't as opposed to their lack of religion, but he still questioned it. Especially during the times his family left the commune to trade. There were so many different notions, it was hard not to be curious. And like his sister he tried to get his hands on as many religious books as possible, just to curve his appetite. They seemed more like stories than a divine word from above, however.
Piotr finally came to a decision on his religious beliefs when he was fourteen. He'd been spying on his sister and debating whether or not to spook her as she lay in the field. He barely heard the troubled cries, his own blending in with them as he noticed the rogue tractor. Peter rushed forward with his heart pounding in unmistakable fear and quickly pushed Illyana out of the way, not even noticing his transformation. Covered in steel he left the commune - and himself - in shock.
The commune had decided it was best for him to leave and raising enough funds they sent him to America to live at the Xavier Institute. Piotr's interests in religion faded as he came to the conclusion that there was no God and his parents views had been right all along. He tried not to worry about his sister, he didn't want to leave her alone, but after settling down in the mansion he started to write to her. Telling her all about his new life and then proceeding to send her religious books when she asked. As silly as he thought religion now, he would do anything Illyana asked of him.
Living at the mansion, Piotr focused on his studies and took this time to learn more about his mutation. With the help of Professor Xavier and the other teachers, he discovered quite a bit about himself. Like just how resistant his steel armor was and that he didn't actually have to breathe when transformed. As his High School studies came to a close, Piotr started taking college classes and majored in art. Around this time, Stryker infiltrated the school. 'Suiting up', he helped Logan get most of the students out, and regretfully left him behind when the other man ordered him to.
Piotr became a member of the X-Men just in time for the Cure and Magneto's retaliation, joining in at the battle of Alcatraz Island. After that things seemed to settle down for a while and Piotr did his part at the mansion, helping student and keeping up his studies.
A trip to the city disrupted the almost peaceful turn in his life. He'd been jumped and tranquilized before he could even process what was going on. When Piotr woke up, he was strapped to a chair and cured. But that didn't stop him from trying to break away from his bonds, not even stopping as his wrist began to bleed.
For three years he was kept there, nothing but a lab rat. Different variations of the cure flowing through his body, and every time he came off them, he was too sedated to do anything about his situation. A lot of the time, Piotr was nothing more than a zombie. Practically drooling and limp as he was led from room to room. His mind always hazy and never alert long enough to think of an escape.
It was a single moment, a small fragment of time where he finally found his window. He was weak and the sedative made him sluggish, but he could feel his mutation. He'd felt it come back enough times to know when it was there. Obviously someone had messed up his drug dosage, but he still wasn't up to par. It was pure adrenaline that got him out of there, his body transformed and he finally escaped. He'd been on an Island, but he wasn't going to try jumping a ship to get off, no Piotr jumped right into the ocean and began swimming.
His body had changed back when he finally got to shore, right before everything went black.
