Name: Hope Evelyn Abbott.
Alias: Trance.
Age: 21.
Birthday: 03/23/91.
Hometown: Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Family:
Sean William Abbott | Father
Miranda Fey Abbott | Mother
Appearance: The first thing you notice about Hope is her thick defined eyebrows and her large brown eyes. Her hair has a natural wave and she is normally either leaving it down or putting it up in a messy bun. While her hair might be flowy and free, Hope's style is the opposite, dressing more conservative with a touch of sophistication. She has a fondness for pearls and is always wearing them, whether it be earrings or a necklace.
Personality: Hope is known to be a very kind and patient person. Always helping other students with their studies without reserve. She's a little more mature than others her age, not finding interests in the same things and even earning the title of prude. When it comes to fighting, she does pretty well in the training room, but would rather leave it there, only using violence when necessary. She's also a bit of a hopeless romantic.
Powers: Hope has the ability of astral projection, leaving her unconscious body behind as she enters an altered state of consciousness and releasing her astral self. Her astral form is capable of flight and she is able to avoid physical injury. In addition she is able to project destructive energy, creating arching energy surges that can stun and even bend metal and concrete. While using her mutation, Hope can see auras and energy patterns that are normally invisible to the naked human eye, such as emotional states of others, heat signatures, and energy patterns in the air. In her actual body, Hope is rather useless.
History: Hope was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She was the only child to Sean and Miranda Abbott, a miracle child as it were, because Miranda thought she couldn't conceive. She was very much doted upon and spoiled to a degree. While she was given just about everything she wanted on birthdays and Christmas, when the Holidays were over Hope was taught that you had to work for what you wanted.
From a young age, Hope expressed different interests than most of the children she was surrounded by. She didn't connect with Britney Spears or modern movies. Instead taking on a penchant for Clark Gable films and listing to classical music, such as Mozart and Gershwin, or anything from the 50s decade.
Hope was thirteen when her powers manifested. The day had started out as a good one, they were barbequing, and Hope was bringing the steaks out to her father. She tripped over the threshold and the suddenness have her body an awkward jerk. The plate dropped to the ground and Hope watched in horror as her father clutches his chest. Rushing forward to help, she found her hands translucent and ghost-like and her body on the ground, unmoving.
She had never felt so guilty as she sat with her father every day at the hospital awaiting his recovery. When Sean finally woke up, Hope practically smothered him with apologies. His reaction cut through her like a knife, flinching back in fear when she tried to hug him. When they came back home her parents decided to send her to New York, believing she would be 'cured' at the Xavier Institute.
It came as a surprise when Hope was taken in and taught how to manage her mutation. And all the while keeping up with her classes as a normal student. Hope didn't make any close friends, rather she was the go-to girl when someone needed to be tutored. Her dislike for popular culture also seemed to put distance between her and the other children, her tastes being in older films and classical music not shared by many.
Being very strict about her homework, Hope graduated early at sixteen and then began college courses. She stayed at the mansion, distancing herself from her family and making her life where she felt she could be herself. Her major always changed – History, Music, even dance... She finally settled on music after she failed a chemistry exam.
She didn't really want to be an X-Men, hoping to be able to teach music to the students once she finished her college classes. But then came the Mutant Registration Act which was soon followed by the Legacy Virus. And now, she was twenty-one years old and mutants around her had lost their memories. She'd been thinking about getting an apartment in the city, but now... There was no way she was going to leave the mansion.
