Full name: Dr Cameron Ebenezer Willows PhD
Alias: None as of yet
Age: 35
Birthday: 26th December 1977
Hometown: Lubbock, Texas
Current Occupation: NYPD Evidence lab technician
Appearance: Cameron stands at 5'11", built more with muscle than you might expect for a scientist. He is always clean shaven, though his hairstyle changes fairly frequently, always fluctuating between a short back and sides or a shaved head, depending on his mood. He hasn't lost the tan a youth in Texas granted him, or the dimples that made his mother pinch his cheeks when he smiles.
Personality: Cameron is a naturally caring and polite person, always trying his best to help those in need. As a result, he gets attached very quickly and very passionately, which can make him prime for heartbreak. He is fiercely loyal and will anger if he feels an injustice has been served against him or his friends and family.
Powers: In the simplest of terms, Cameron's powers make up in the missing link in the process of alchemy. He is able to transmorph minerals through the elements to rearrange their base particles and render them as something else. This does mean that he cannot simply wave his hand and turn lead to gold or rocks to wheat, but through studying classical works on alchemy he had learnt to understand which base products respond to which elements and can then use his powers as the missing link in the process.
History: Cameron was born the only child to Selma-Lou and Donald Willows on an un-festively warm Boxing Day morning. His mother had been in labour since Christmas Eve, hoping for a Christmas Day baby but when Cameron refused to show for 48 hours, his parents humorously gave him the middle name of Ebenezer, saying he simply didn't want to share his birthday. The family were not particularly well-off, with Cameron's father working as a traveling salesman, and his mother as a cleaning lady, but they did their best to give their son all they could. In return, Cameron did his very best in school and soon showed a prowess for science. It wasn't just in academia that the Willows boy showed a natural ability in, however, as he soon earned a reputation as the school's star quarterback. It was a combination of his skills in the lab and his skills on the pitch that won him first the title of Homecoming King and later, a full scholarship to Odessa College where he earned his bachelor's degree.
It was here that Cameron first became aware of the mutation that had been triggered, years before, during a particularly aggressive game of football in high school. His powers gave him an edge in college, and drew attention to him from the Ivy League. When he came to do his masters, he was again offered a full research grant, this time from Stanford University. While here, he met Avery Smith, a slightly younger student who had joined the same debate club he had, and fell in love. Avery was a constant tempest of emotion, one minute fiery and the next sedate and Cameron was completely enthralled by her. They married the same month Cameron earned his PhD, in a ceremony funded by, despite his reservations, Cameron's powers.
Now one of the country's most-promising young scientists, and an expert in mutation, Cameron was asked to join the team assembling to work on a cure for mutants. The process had begun long before he joined the team, but Cameron's knowledge propelled the formulation forward and, within two years, it was ready to market. Those two years had been important for Cameron in a different way as well, as he and Avery had welcomed not one, but two children in the short time. In August of 2005, their son Nikolai Adam Willows had been born, followed by a daughter, Haven Uriel Willows in September of 2006. Believing his life was on the up, Cameron decided to be rid of the powers that made him a constant target for leeches, and took the cure. To this day, he regrets the decision. When he returned home, expecting his wife to be thrilled that the phonecalls begging for money would end, Cameron was met with a very different reaction. Avery screamed at him, wept into the arm of the sofa and stormed out. The next day she returned with divorce papers and took their children. Despite all the years they had played happy families, without Cameron's money-making skills, she wanted nothing to do with that life.
Haven was only two months old, her brother 15 months, and they were seized away from their father because their mother couldn't face a life without gold on tap. Heartbroken, and left alone to deal with the fallout that came from the mutant cure, Cameron became depressed. He left his job in science, telling no one when, to his horror, his powers returned. He moved to New York to be nearer to his children, though Avery quickly moved them to Canada, and tried to continue on, but was half the man he had been before.
Eventually he took a job that was little more than pencil-pushing in a lab for the NYPD and slowly began to try and make himself happy again. He joined different clubs and groups, taking up football again, and running. He learnt to play the piano and started to tell himself that he was alright, even if the pain of hardly seeing his children often made it hard for him to breathe.
He doesn't remember the crash that kick started his life again, or why he has woken up at a wedding, with everyone congratulating him.
