Full name: Weston “Wes” Monroe
Alias: Imprint
Age/DOB: Twenty-seven | July 30th, 1985
Hometown: Beasley, Texas
Appearance: Wes stands at an even six feet tall, with a very lean yet muscular frame. He has both dark brown eyes as well as dark brown hair. His body is adorned with a large multitude of tattoos, some relating to his mutation while others are personal symbols that he has gotten over the years. He dresses in very simple clothes; mostly black jeans, white tee shirts, black boots or converse sneakers, and very rarely wears any sort of colors apart from the muted blacks, whites, and grays.
Personality: Wes is a smart ass. He always has an answer for everything and has what can only be described as a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Wes tends to keep to himself, and despite his asshole personality, he tends to do as superiors tell him just as long as they’ve earned that right or are seen to be as more powerful than himself. Wes is also not afraid to take risks, especially due to his personal philosophy of ‘the bigger the risk the bigger the reward’.
Powers: Wes has the ability to ‘take’ and ‘hold’ powers from other mutants. During that time he can use them, however the more complicated the power the harder it is for him to use it. The powers also tend to wear off after a certain amount of time, which also depends on how complicated the power is. While storing these powers, an imprint of a tattoo is left on his body, signaling how many powers he is currently ‘housing’, which is also limited.
History: Weston Monroe was born to Geoffrey and Shelia Monroe, a car salesman and high school guidance counselor respectively. From the day he was conceived, Wes proved to be a difficult individual. Shelia was plagued with terrible morning sickness, which only followed with a terribly colicky baby once Weston was actually born. It seemed that he was always crying; never comfortable or at ease.
From a colicky baby he only grew into a troublesome toddler. Constantly Weston was wandering off, biting whoever tried to hold his hand, and being as difficult as a toddler could be. Of course the Monroe’s got no relief from their only son as he grew older. In elementary school he was constantly being taken to the principal’s office for acting out and fighting with other students, talking back to the teachers, and simply not doing his school work. It was as if Wes was born with a chip on his shoulder, yet his parent’s had no idea why. They read all the parenting books, tried both private and family counseling, and even punished and threatened Weston with military school. Nothing worked.
By the time Wes hit his teenaged years, things were growing more and more out of control. Tired of a non-stop fight with their son, and one particular nasty argument, Geoffrey finally got fed up. At the age of sixteen Weston was kicked out of the house. He bounced around, spending the nights on friend’s couches or even sleeping on the street. Wes had already been working as a drug dealer prior to his parent’s kicking him out, a job which he continued even more so once he was on his own.
It was during this time that Weston discovered his mutant powers. During a drug deal, he got more than money in exchange for the cocaine in which he was dealing; Wes also suddenly developed the ability to turn invisible. It took him a while to figure out exactly what was happening, but over the next couple of years, Wes finally worked it out; he could take and bestow powers onto different individuals, as long as they already was a mutant. The powers were then stored on his body as a tattoo which represented the power at hand. It opened up a whole new way to make money.
For the next few years, Wes bounced around, traveling to various places as he worked in the power trading business and continued to deal drugs. He did a stint in prison for a couple of years, after being arrested with cocaine in his possession.
It was shortly after his release from jail, that a mysterious man, with a job offer, approached Wes. He was entirely too interested in Wes’s powers, and instantly Wes found himself feeling wary and uncertain of the man. Throughout his life he had met a variety of shady and mysterious characters, yet there was something different about this man; he just didn’t trust him.
Unfortunately for Wes, the man wasn’t about to take no as an answer. The next thing Wes knew, he was woken up in a laboratory of sorts, a variety of experiments being done. He had been kidnapped and had wound up on the island of Genosha.
Wes remained on Genosha for the next two years, not knowing what to do. It was only through a chance, that during one of the experiments, that Wes had the ability to teleport. Meeting up with another mutant who went by the name Verity, the pair was able to escape.
Back in America, Wes and Verity landed in New York City. The pair stuck together, neither wanting to really be on their own after what they had just been through, though of course Wes wasn’t about to admit that. Eventually the pair also found themselves recruited to the Acolytes.
