Appearance: Loralei has a very tall, lanky, and thin build, with a pale complexion and blue eyes. Her long, blonde hair easily reaches past her waist and is often worn down. Despite her lofty personality, Loralei actually has a fairly structured wardrobe. She wears a lot of fitted outfits that aren’t considered to be very whimsical or flow-y.
Personality: A daydreamer and naïve girl, Loralei has a habit of trusting people far too easily, and has a habit of not realizing when she’s being laughed at opposed to being laughed with. She has a habit of blurting out weird saying and phrases into conversations that doesn’t make too much sense.
Powers: Loralei has long, blonde hair, which in itself is like an extra appendage, which she can use to grab hold of objects. Her hair is also a lot stronger than your average hair, but once cut it looses all of its mutant ability. Loralei also has healing properties in her hair, as well as her tears and blood.
History: Born and raised in Helena, Montana, Loralei always seemed to be the odd one in the group. She didn’t fit in amongst her white collar, country club loving, divorce attorney set of parents, nor with her ballet taking, horseback riding, field hockey playing older sister. Her parents always claimed that her head was up in the clouds; that she was a daydreamer with no ambitions or goals in her life. They always wanted to know why their youngest daughter couldn’t be more like her sister; more like Adelaide. In fact, for as long as Loralei can remember, it seemed as if Jefferson was her only confidant and friend.
Loralei had met the other boy in elementary school; he was the only other student that didn’t mock Loralei’s daydream-y, oddball self, and instantly the pair bonded. Their friendship was on cemented by the fact that Jefferson was the only person who stuck up for her at school.
It seemed as if it was only a matter of time before their friendship developed into something more, and it certainly did when they were both a mere 13 and each had their first kiss with the other. It was after that first kiss that Jefferson's mutation developed, and of course Loralei found it to be fascinating. She constantly wished she could develop her own sense of powers, and one year later, Loralei got her wish.
She had always had long, blonde hair, envious of others. Part of her teasing in school was due to her long locks, and it was because of her hair that she was often referred to as Rapunzel by her fellow peers. A year after Jefferson's powers appeared, Loralei got hers. Her hair developed a life of it's own; it could be moved, was freakishly strong, and perhaps most surprising of all, it hosted healing properties.
Two years after Loralei's powers developed, she and Jefferson finally became boyfriend/girlfriend; an official couple. And once they were together, she never looked back. Despite the teasing classmates and the neglectful parents, Loralei felt happy. She was in love and in Loralei's dreamy world, that was all that mattered.
It wasn’t too long after their official 'getting together', that the pair developed a plan. Both unhappy with their lives, they thought up the whimsical idea that they would run away. Loralei had a trust fund, the money already in her bank account, and with part of those funds they purchased a camper. With the help of Jefferson’s sister, the pair quickly wed, and were on the road, leaving their old lives and families behind.
Crossing the United States, they worked odd jobs, only staying in different towns and cities for a handful of weeks at a time. They still had Loralei’s trust fund as a big chunk of change, but neither Jefferson nor Loralei wanted to rely solely upon that.
Finally months after traveling, the pair ended up in New York City just as the mutants were losing their memories. Luckily both Loralei and Jefferson’s memories remained intact. Selling the camper and deciding to stay put for a while, they settled into a small, one room studio apartment. Loralei began working as a cleaning lady, while Jefferson got two jobs; one as a bus boy, and the other in a book store.
