Name: Jax Areli Quinn (nee Bevins).
Alias: Gem.
Age: 25.
Birthday: January 1, 1988.
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York.
Marital Status: Married.
Occupation: Waitress and aspiring documentarian
Family:
Patrick Bevins [father]
Renee Bevins [mother]
Jo Neo Savona née Bevins [sister; 25]
Tess Ife Bevins [sister; 16]
Rocco Savona [brother-in-law; 27]
Appearance: With long curly dark hair, lightly colored eyes, and smooth, mocha caramel skin that literally sparkles in the light, Jax comes off as a very beautiful being, standing 5’5” and at 118lbs. She stands very independently. Her style doesn’t really stick to one thing as she switches fashions on a daily basis, she’s not one for trends and she likes to mix up looks and is a big fan of dresses and especially bright clothing. Her skin not being the only thing people stare at.
With a love for tattoos, Jax has a a few. The word 'Simplicity' in a small font on her right side. The word 'She' (her father's nickname for her) on her right forearm. The date of the her Grandparents anniversary on her left bicep. On her right foot she has a cherub and two passages from the bible. And on her back the saying 'Know your limits'.
Personality: Jax has a very happy and friendly personality. Although her family has money she is intent on making it on her own and being very independent. She doesn't really care about how much money she has or doesn't have. She doesn't judge people, but she doesn't like displays of the male ego, or people who flaunt their wealth yet do nothing with their lives. She has a habit of taking others problems onto her shoulder and an even bigger problem of being a tease, unknowingly, of course. She can make some suggestions that can be taken literally or just in fun. Shyness isn't really what her friends would describe her as, she's more reserved to a point.
Power:Formally, all of Jax’ skin is made up of little microscopic crystals that sparkle and shine when any type of light is casted on her. Her skin is very cold to the touch, like touching an iceberg, only having internal heating. When heat emits from her body, it goes through the crystal-like layer and cools it to a freezing temperature, which leaves about half an inch of bone-chilling air around her body. She can make that half inch of freezing body chill expand to a foot away, but any more than that and it takes a toll on her body causing it to ache rather badly. She doesn’t have any body heat and this body chill acts like a force field that protects her from any type of heat and fire. Because her skin is so cold, she doesn't blush normally, her skin becomes a light purplish color instead of that nagging red. Cold air itself doesn't bother her, but cold water can cause her to fell just how her powers feel to others.
Now, Jax is a technopath and is able to control and communicate with technology. It has yet been established just how this works.
History: Patrick Bevins and Renee Brown met during there junior year at high school when Renee made the Cheerleading squad. Patrick was the school's quarterback on the football team and the two of them hit it off automatically and started dating. Renee's parents didn't have any problem with Patrick being a white Australian boy, just as long as he was nice, protected, and took care of their daughter. But, when Patrick took Renee to meet his parents, they drew up a storm. Saying horrible things and causing Renee to run out of the house crying. Both families were wealthy and when Patrick was given a choice to choose either his trust fund or Renee, he chose Renee. His parents kicked him out, but the Brown's gave him a place to stay and Quinton Brown gave him a job at the textile mill he owned. After graduation, Patrick and Renee married and moved into an apartment in Brooklyn with the help of Renee's parents. They both started taking classes at the college closest to them and things were going great. Four years into their marriage, Renee grew pregnant and nine months later she gave birth to a baby girl they named Jo Neo Bevins. Renee's mother helped take care of the child while they still went to their classes and after three more years they both graduated. Renee was on her way to be a nurse and Patrick was going to be a journalist.
On Renee's first day of work at Brooklyn Hospital Center , she grew sick after giving a lady a blood test. A few weeks later she found that she was pregnant. Patrick was happy and so was little Jo, because she was going to have a little brother or sister. Eight months later, Jax Areli Bevins was born. She was called the early baby for a while and everyone seemed to think she was the most beautiful baby, making Jo a little jealous. But, every time Jo was alone with Jax she always made sure the new baby was okay. As Jax grew older, her and her sister grew closer, claiming they were best friends and no one would ever separate them. That was when they were five.
At the age of six Jax' parent moved her and her sister from Brooklyn to Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania because Patrick got a good job at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pittsburgh had a lot of crime, but they lived in a good part of the city, that same year Renee gave birth to another daughter, Tess Ife Bevins. Jax and Jo loved their little sister, but didn't like the city at all and because they were mad at their parents they became rebellious at an early start. Such as, Jax shoplifting at the age of ten and things like that. When Jax was twelve she became more responsible, which was probably her mind readying her for when her powers manifested. It had been a rather painful experience, but she pulled through, because Jo was right there with her the whole time. It had been a Saturday, both her parents were both working and Tess was taking a nap. After the pain ceased, Jax was terrified at what to do. Questions milled through her head a mile a minute. She had almost started to hyperventilate, but Jo just hugged her, even though Jax' body was freezing cold, and told her things would be alright.
Tess had been easy to tell, she was only six and she kept saying how pretty Jax was, because she sparkled. Her parents hadn't acted like she thought. Patrick and Renee only voiced their worry, never once saying anything bad. Her mother had even complimented her, saying that 'You sparkle even more than my wedding ring.'
Everything was fine in the Bevins household. It was the outside world that took Jax' mutation badly. At school, Jax was bullied and teased constantly; some of the teachers even gave her bad grades just because of what she looked like. When Jax reached high school it got worse, probably, because Jo was no longer around to take care of the students who bullied her. Jo had gotten into a bad fight with their mother and went back to Brooklyn to live with their aunt, Renee's younger sister Eve. Teachers weren't a problem, because the principle was in fact a mutant, it was mainly the students.
One student bullied her more than the others. His name was Jake Downing and everything he said to Jax was racial, anti-mutant, sexist, and just plain-ass harassment. He wouldn't leave her alone. At sixteen, Jax was walking home from school, a rather regular thing, when Jake and a few people from his clique turned up. Jax thought a few words would just be spit out at her, but then some punches were thrown. Jax wasn't exactly the fighting sort and she tried to fight back, but when she was down and the kicking started she just couldn't get up. When she woke up she was in a hospital bed, her mother at her side, her father was talking off to the side with a doctor and some police and two girls were peaking in through the doorway. Jax was told that the girls, her fellow students, Ruby Walsh and Asha Dupree, were on their way home from school as well and saw the attack and called the cops. Apparently Jake's whole little group was against mutants and beat her for something she had no choice in the matter of becoming.
When she was let out of the hospital, she was signed up for self-defense classes at the police station. After a month Jake and the three others with him were sentenced to a few months in juvie. Back at school Jax hung around Ruby and Asha and they all became really good friends.
The three girls stuck together like glue they were inseparable, until graduation. They had all been given scholarship to different schools. Ruby was heading to Colorado . Asha was going to California , and Jax was going back to New York . All the girls promised to keep in touch though, calling each other everyday.
When Jax moved back to New York , she moved in with Jo and her Italian husband Rocco. Jo and Rocco had opened up a smoothie and coffee shop called 'Tia Maria's' and gave Jax a job there as a waitress after her classes at NYU, where she studies the art of film. Her and her sister grew close like they once had, but after a year, she felt she had become a burden and moved into her own place, an apartment/loft that she has all to herself.
