Full name: Dia Elizabeth Sanders
Alias: Figment
Age: 19
Birthday: January 10
Hometown: Williamsburg, VA
Appearance: Dia's a little on the short side, and is thin but by no means extremely so. Her blond hair is slightly wavy and reaches down past her shoulder blades, though she often contemplates chopping it all off. Her clothes are girly, to a point, as she often wears things with flower prints or flowy materials. She wears some makeup, but usually doesn't do much with her hair, either pulling it back into a ponytail or letting it fall however it wants.
Personality: Friendly and bubbly are two of Dia's main personality traits. She's not some doormat to be walked all over, though, as she can be downright mean when it comes to defending her friends--which she has had to do more than once as she has a tendency to befriend people on both sides of arguments. She often takes things to heart, even if they aren't meant that way, and despite the fact that she might not bring it up right away, she is easily hurt and carries these things with her. Since Dia grew up with so many brothers, she can have somewhat of a crass sense of humor, but she knows when it's appropriate and when it's not. Bringing her son back into her life has calmed her down immensely, and even though she still enjoys going out occasionally, she's definitely not as much of a party-er as she used to be. Despite all of this, Dia has some serious self-esteem issues, that usually don't get seen through her tendency to joke around, but the Doctor isn't fooled (as he also tends to joke around to cover up how he's feeling) and he's slowly helping her build up her self esteem.
Powers: Dia's main ability is that she can send people illusions, controlling what they see and hear, when her eyes are closed. However, she also has a healing ability, although it's not very developed and she often gets worn out and has to stop before people are completely healed or she's done healing a group.
History: Being the youngest of five siblings and the only girl, it would be an understatement to say Dia was spoiled as a child. Her parents put her into piano lessons and ballet classes, dressed her up frills as much as they could, and gave Dia pretty much anything she wanted. However, the things that she didn't get were freedom and privacy. Her parents were strictly religious and controlling of every matter in her life, which of course just made her want to rebel even more, determined to prove that she wasn't their little princess.
Starting in middle school, Dia started falling in with what her parents would call the 'wrong crowd', even though she found them to be her nicest friends so far. She spent her time almost constantly grounded for sneaking out or skipping class. When Dia discovered her illusion-making abilities, she used it to her advantage to help her trick her parents.
Throughout high school, this behavior continued and grew worse as she fell in with a partying crowd. Her mother knew of all of this behavior, but trusted karma (or in her words 'the hand of the Lord') to sort it out Dia's punishment, as it seemed grounding her (no matter how much they guarded all the doors!) didn't work. Dia joked to her friends that no matter what her mother caught her doing, it was when she dyed her hair black that mortified her the most.
Unfortunately for Dia, her mother was correct in thinking that her lifestyle would catch up with her. When she was a junior in high school, she discovered she was pregnant. At first, she wasn't even going to tell her parents, but her mothers constant prying into her life, she found out. Because of their religion, Dia's parents were opposed to abortion, but also mortified of what everyone else at their church might think. They decided the best thing would be to give the baby up to adoption, but the more Dia thought about it the more she wanted to keep it.
Still, after she had her baby, a son, she gave him to a couple an agency picked out. Less than a month after this, she turned eighteen and her parents all but disowned her. Having heard about Xavier's school, she traveled there, and ended up living there for the better part of a year. She quickly developed a crush on a student there around her age named Matthew--'Twitch'. He was shy and sweet, and they had a short relationship before, falling back into her old ways, Dia practically cheated on him with one of her close friends, the Doctor.
The relationship between she and the Doctor turned out to be more than friendship (and a hookup =P), obviously, and not long after she and Twitch broke up, they began dating. It was also around this time that Dia found out the adoptive parents of her child didn't want him anymore, because they found out his mother was a mutant, and Xavier offered to help her get him back if she wanted. She did, and also moved in with the father of her child. Unfortunately, he left for California without any real explanation before they even got their son back. The Doctor helped her through it though, and she lived on her own and took care of her son, Parker by herself for a while. After they had dated for a year, the Doctor asked Dia to move in with him, so she now lives with him, Parker, and Darwin (the dog she bought for the Doctor last Christmas).
