Full name: St. John Edward Allerdyce.
Alias: Pyro.
Age: 22.
Birthday: May 6th, 1987.
Hometown: Bradly, Australia.
Apperance: Standing at 5’8” and a half, John isn’t the tallest of men, but at the same time isn’t the shortest. He’s fairly average in appearance, not being overly attractive looking, but (at least he hopes) not hideous either. His dirty blonde hair is more dirty than blonde, and his eye color is hard to pinpoint, due to the flecks of blues, grays, browns and greens that seem to mix together to the beat of their own drum. John can nearly always be seen wearing tee shirts and jeans, with the occasional sweatshirt or flannel button up tossed over it. A pair of worn converse always is over his feet.
Personality: A blunt jackass, John isn’t the most welcoming of people. If you can stick around long enough without getting burnt, being chewed out, and can deal with the colorful language John is so fond of, you might get to know the guy on the inside, who likes to steal jets with his bff4lyfe Dia.
Powers: John has the ability to not create, but control fire.
History:
Nicholas Allerdyce and Elizabeth Levett had only been dating for a few months when they discovered they were expecting their first child. After a couple of weeks of planning being done by their parents, the two nineteen year olds were forced into a marriage neither of them were ready for, nor wanted, but did due to the fact that it was the “right” thing to do.
Months later, on May 6th, at St. Vincent’s hospital, St John Edward Allerdyce was born. He was named after Elizabeth's brother, while the baby's middle name was in honor of Elizabeth's father. Somehow knowing her son would be special, would be worth something, Elizabeth added the St onto John’s first name at the last moment. Nick never really cared about the tweak in the name, though he constantly mocked his son for it, as John grew older.
Life was fine as they could be for the newly formed Allerdyce family. Elizabeth stayed home taking care of the baby, while dreaming of the life she could have had, had she not gotten pregnant. Nick spent his days working on a construction crew, and nights out with his friends. He was rarely home, though both he and his wife preferred it that way. 7 years passed with hardly any changes in the Allerdyce household. His father had begun drinking more and working less over the years. Elizabeth was now pregnant with her second child, whose father was a different man, though Nick and John both didn’t know of this. She was also working long hours at a nearby restraint to make ends meet.
John spent his days, when not in school, either hanging out with his group of friends, which included Lucy Branding, a girl who lived down the street, who had been his friend since they were toddlers. When not running around Bradly, causing trouble, John was often reading the various books that belonged to his mother, despite the fact that he didn’t always understand them. The rather stubborn boy would spend half the night, staring at the words, trying to make sense out of them.
It was roughly a year later, that Nick began to use his son as a punching bag. The scrawny boy would often be seen sporting black eyes, and bruises decorating his somewhat short body. Elizabeth would try her best by keeping her son out of the house by either taking him along to work, or dropping him off at Lucy’s house for the day, but was too scared of her abusive husband to do much else.
As John, and his younger sister, who was named Sophie, grew older, Elizabeth tried to give them the best childhood possible, not wanting her kids to miss out on anything despite the lack of money they had. She would often arrange trips to a nearby playground, or scramble any extra money they had to take day trips to a petting zoo, or buy a sandbox full of snow cones, so the Australian native John and Sophie could experience snow.
John became more and more protective of his baby sister, as she grew older, knowing that all his father would see in the young girl, would be another thing to hit. He would go out of his way to make sure Sophie went unharmed, even if it meant adding another bruise or black eye to his collection.
Once he hit his teenage years, John grew more rebellious, both in and out of school. His mother would often get called into the principal’s office after John picked fights with the bigger, richer kids that would tease him. Once he turned 13, John would often simply skip school all together, and he and Lucy would spend the day simply walking around town, dreaming of what their lives would be like once they left Bradly and their families behind.
It was also around this age, that John, began to be picked on by a group of larger, older boys. They didn’t like his smart mouth, and one day during the lunch hour, proceeded to teach him a lesson. Pinning John down, the largest of the boys removed a shark decorated Zippo from his pocket. As the flame made contact with John’s skin, he discovered that the flame didn’t burn, but instead felt warm and comforting. Suddenly, the flame suddenly grew in the lighter, burning the other boy’s hand, and causing him to drop the lighter. Grabbing the Zippo, John took off running. Over a course of a couple weeks, John continued to experiment with fire. Discovering that he could control it, he suddenly felt powerful; felt special and worth something. Lucy, noticing a change in her best friend, was soon let in on the secret, and the pair began using John’s ability to pull pranks, and torment any students that got in their way.
When John was fifteen years old, he felt he had enough control over his power to do something about his dad. He had begun plotting to somehow get even with the man that had made his life a living hell. One Saturday afternoon, when John believed his mum had taken Sophie down to the park, and his father was asleep on the couch, John, with the familiar silver lighter in his hand, began to light the room on fire. Unknown to him, Elizabeth and Sophie had returned to the house, finding the odd winter heat too much to be outside. The fire soon got out of control, and John barely made it out of the house. Only after it had nearly burned down to the ground, did he realize that his sister and mum had gotten trapped inside, unlike his father, who unknown to John had managed to escape.
John barely stayed in Bradly a week, before he took off, hitching his way to a shipping yard, where he got work on one of the large ships that was on its way to America. Once the boat was in the states, John snuck off, and into the country without any proper papers. At fifteen years old, St John Allerdyce found himself alone, and in New York City.
He wandered around for a few months, enjoying the nice spring, then summer weather that was in the city. Sure it rained a few times, but it was nothing he couldn’t handle. He made money doing odd jobs, and doing some low level pick pocketing. Then winter struck. Having lived in Australia his whole life, John had never been exposed to the cold winters that came in New York. Even with layering, he didn’t have enough clothes to keep him warm, and soon John found himself sick, cold despite his powers, and constantly hungry.
He began trying to make his way out of the city, hoping to work his way down south where the weather was warmer. It was during this trip that he stumbled upon the Xavier Institute. John desperate for some form of shelter, and a warm meal quickly enrolled despite his lack of funds.
It was at Xavier’s that he became sort of friends with his new roommate, Bobby Drake aka the American dream boy. They were complete opposites in every way, argued and teased one another most of the time, yet were oddly inseparable. Then, Rogue arrived. Something about her, just fascinated not only John, but Bobby as well. Both boys began to try and impress the quiet girl, and within a couple months of her stay, she began to date Bobby, much to John’s annoyance.
When the mansion was attacked by Stryker’s lot, John along with Rogue, Bobby and Wolverine escaped via car, and made their way to Boston, where the Drake family lived. John soon found himself surrounded by the family life that he always wanted. He grew more cold and bitter towards his friends, and made the Drake family uncomfortable with his blunt comments when Bobby revealed to his family that he was a mutant.
When they arrived at Alkali Lake, John got into an interesting conversation with Magneto. Then, after being told to stay put on the X-jet, John of course in typical rebellious fashion, disobeyed and went off on his own. He then met up with the Brotherhood and joined up with them, instead of returning to the X-Men.
With the Brotherhood, Pyro began to freely use his powers, no longer holding back as he once had. He began helping Magneto and the rest of the gang to stir up trouble, his specialty being Magneto’s right hand man, after Mystique was cured, and burning down cure centers. It was during one of these burnings that he bumped into Bobby, who was searching for Rogue. Pyro taunted his former friend, trying to pick a fight. That fight however, was postponed until the final battle at Alcatraz.
After the battle, Pyro was left frozen, yet otherwise unharmed. A man wandering through who went by the name of Gambit found John, and took him in as a sort of apprentice thief. It was under Gambit’s teaching that he learned the fine art of pick pocketing, and other stealing skills. Of course this only lasted so long. During an unsuccessful job, Gambit left Pyro to fend for himself when cops arrived.
The police took John in, seeing that he was still a few months shy of being eighteen, and was well known for all the Brotherhood business. Pyro was given a choice. He could either go to jail for a damn long time, or return to Xavier mansion, keep out of trouble, and stay there until he was eighteen. John, despite not wanting to head back to the X-Men’s headquarters, wanted to go to jail even less.
At the mansion, John soon began to date young, sweet Kitty Pryde, and his friendship with Rogue was rekindled. However, it wasn’t long before that friendship turned into something more and he ended up cheating on his girlfriend whom he cared deeply about, with the best friend he had always secretly loved.
After an awkward start to an unhealthy relationship, John and Rogue moved in together, into a cheap apartment in New York City. They took in Beth, an abandoned little girl, discovered Rogue was pregnant with Magneto’s child, and soon gave up Beth, back to a well respected adoption agency. After Rogue lost the baby, due to a tumble down stairs, John bought a puppy for her, whom she named Princess. Soon later, a dachshund puppy for John was purchased, who he named Zippo. They moved back into the apartment, once Rogue had a chance to recover, and seemed to be back on track. On a spur of the moment decision, they got engaged, only for Rogue to then break it off, and out of the blue, leave John to return to the mansion.
Visiting the institute, John met a pretty blonde woman named Christie, who he had a short relationship with. Reconciling with Rogue soon after his and Christie had broken up. They continued to date happily until right after Christmas, when John took off to Australia. It was there that John met back up with Lucy, and after a night of drinking, the pair got married.
Upon discovering John’s ‘marriage’, Rogue again decided to not pursue their relationship any longer. It was during this time that John opted to start the Brotherhood again. His first recruit was a girl named Maya, and soon various others joined up as well, some of which who got dragged in. One of these people happened to be Astral, a friend who he had made at the mansion. After discovering that his marriage to Lucy wasn’t real, to the minister being a fake, they cautiously began pursuing a relationship.
For nearly a year, Astral and John dated. It was a relationship filled with ups and downs, one of which being they were left homeless after the hotel they were living in had been attacked. Nonetheless, after John took off for California with Kitty, he soon returned and after a bout of awkwardness, things began turning around for the two. They had a fairly good relationship for a few months before John fell back into old habits and kissed Rogue. He came clean about the encounter but once more they got through it.
After the Brotherhood got attacked, John and Rogue bonded over some booze and took off in the middle of the night in search of Dia, who was in Canada at the time. Unknowingly while they were on the spur of the moment trip, Astral got attacked by Sabertooth. John and Rogue made it back just in the nick of time thanks to Pietro, but Astral was both mentally and physically scarred by the incident. Due to John's persistence Astral then took a trip back home to her family in Philadelphia.
In the following weeks John ran into Rogue numerous times, and despite his attempts to cut her out of his life completely, he simply couldn't let go. Shortly after Astral came back, John once again kissed Rogue and once again came clean about it. The night following, John was with Dia (who had been staying with him while she had her own relationship problems) and thanks to some ecstasy and booze the two bffz4lyfe slept together. After a day or so of uncertainty, Astral and John broke up.
Since the break up, John has gotten back together with Rogue and the two have been living in their old apartment. The pair has since become engaged to be married, though only a simple ceremony has been planned, with Dia as their best man/bridesmaid/witness combo.
