History: Ennis was born and raised in New Orleans, Lousiana - the eldest child of Josie and Patrick Cooper. Patrick was a soldier who had left the forces with an honourable discharge after being injured in Vietnam, deciding to retire quietly as his wife worked in a dress-makers to make money to raise Ennis and his younger brother, Sheldon. The boys were both very bright, Ennis more inclined to literature and the arts and Sheldon more to maths and the sciences.
Deciding he wanted to teach, Ennis went to university to earn a degree in Elementary Education. It was while at university that the previously naive Ennis met Emma Coulbourne, a fellow wannabe teacher and fell in love. On graduating, Ennis and Emma moved in together and both found nice stable teaching jobs. However, it was not long after the perfect couple got engaged that disaster struck and Emma was killed in a car accident while on a trip in New Jersey.
Distraught at the loss of his fiancee, Ennis seemed to lose himself a bit and remembering his father's old claim of 'there's no time for sadness in war' - Ennis signed up to the army where he trained as a sniper. Posted for a tour of duty in Iraq, Ennis gained a reputation for being quiet but he still managed to make a firm friendship with fellow sniper Joshua Stone. When travelling to an expected threat, the armoured car infront of the one Ennis was in was blown up by a home-made bomb. The car had been the one Joshua was travelling in but Ennis had little time to worry for his friend in the moment.
The armoured car was not the best any company could make, the war being so hurried in its execution, and had been thrown back into the one carrying Ennis and his fellow officers. Trapped in a wreckage, Ennis knee-bone shattered beyond repair. He was given immediate help in Iraq but had to be sent home where he underwent a knee replacement. There was debate as to whether or not he could return to duty but when a military psycologist deemed it inadvisable, Ennis was served an honourable discharge.
On leaving the army, Ennis found himself being transported to his pre-Emma personality of being rather shy and unsure of himself. He became a pacifist and seemed to try and block out his memories of the war for his own sake. Unable to stay in Orleans, he moved to New Jersey to finish Emma's interupted trip and took up a teaching post there for a short time before moving to a school in the state of New York.
He had been in New York a couple of years when he first met Valerie Wright, the Aunt and guardian of one of his pupils. The pair felt an instant attraction but the relationship began rather cautiously as both seemed emotionally fragile. Eventually however, Ennis and Valerie simply moved in with one another when Val bought a house in Peekskill. They married (to everyone's suprise) rather quickly after meeting, eloping to Disney World in Florida on Valentine's Day and quickly organising everything.
Finally finding some kind of peace, Ennis was incredibly happy with Valerie, and when they discovered she was pregnant, he was over the moon. However, the birth of his son was a stressful event, occuring in the bedroom of their home on Christmas Eve when the snow prevented them getting to hospital. Despite the chaos, the boy was perfectly healthy and given the name Oliver Jackson James (the middle names being after Ennis' beloved grandfather and Valerie's nephew).
Personality: Ennis is quite a shy person, keeping his feelings to himself until he knows someone quite well. Once he knows someone however they will soon realise he is a very sweet and well meaning person.
Powers: Ennis is human so has no super powers sadly.
