*Contains spoilers for X-Men Origins: Wolverine*
Name: Victor Creed
Alias: Sabretooth
Age: 159
Nationality: American
Hair: Sandy blonde, cut choppily at his shoulders
Eyes: Dark Amber
Height: 6'6”
Appearance: Victor is a very well built man who doesn’t have the clothes to show this off. With no steady income at the moment he gets by with raggedy clothes he has discovered near where he lives. His hair is a long mess ending at his shoulders, with hair also growing from his eyebrows. It gives him an animalistic look which is accompanied by intimidating elongated teeth that stick out over his top lip. Because of this it is very rare anyone tries to start a fight with them and even if they do, they won’t be going home alive.
Personality: He prefers to be by himself, disliking almost everyone he meets and because of this has no friends. He has learned a long time ago that he cannot trust anyone and distances himself from everyone. Given the life he leads he does run into some bad people who have nothing better to do than fight and he is more than willing to be the one who opposes them. He’s confident in the fact that no one has injured him and knows he cannot be killed easily. Not above killing he doesn’t know when to stop, usually taking things too far. But not many have been able to stop him so he continues on with the thought he can do anything he pleases without reprimands.
Powers: First and foremost he has the ability to heal any damaged part of his body, also able to regenerate any part of his body that might be severed. Because of his strong healing ability he is also immune to poison, many drugs, toxins and diseases. It also keeps him looking and feeling like a man in his prime for over being a century.
He also has strong senses, able to track people for miles as well as being able to see in the dark. His hearing is strong enough to hear for miles, concentrating on nothing but what he wants to hear. It took many years to manage this but during the wars he was involved in, he was able to gain full control. He has very good stamina and can pick up heavy items that most cannot.
History:Victor grew up in less than welcoming circumstances. Some of his earliest memories are of being tired up in the basement and tortured by his father while his mother stood by. She was a quiet woman and found out the hard way that all she could do was stand by and watch her son be abused. He was only 13 when he began to gain his powers. The first of which were his extended canine teeth as well as his sharpened nails. It was a painful and confusing process. His father constantly told him how ashamed he was of what he was becoming. He quickly learned to hide his hands in public to avoid questions and strange looks.
His mother had become very sick during this time, or at least it was what his father had told him when she suddenly passed away. It was during this time that he began to spend more time with the son of the parents his dad worked for. His name was James Howlett and although most of their time was spent in his bedroom as he was a sick child, it didn’t affect the time spent together playing and talking. Although he would never admit it, he was very jealous of what James had with his family. One night he had stayed at the house rather late and was dragged home by his father who had clearly had too much to drink; only making him angrier than he normally was. It was during that moment that he found out that James was more than a friend. He was shocked to find out that James was in fact his half brother. After his dad had more or less passed out from the amount of alcohol he had, he remained sat up until the early morning thinking all of this over. Would this mean that James would some day become someone like himself? He wasn’t sure and couldn’t even imagine it when James was constantly ill.
It was difficult not to tell James what he now knew, but he was certain if he ever said anything it would ruin their friendship. Still, he was sure that James’ parents knew who his real father was, but weren’t telling him. It upset him to see John come in at night and act like James’ dad but he bit his tongue each time, having a feeling one day the truth would come out.
And it did.
Late one night he was yet again in James’ room, staying with him to keep his brother distracted, as he was once again sick. John had come upstairs to check on James and say goodnight when they both heard Victor’s father calling from downstairs, demanding he come down there. He could see in John’s eyes that he knew what was about to happen, hesitating in his actions until he heard his wife call for help. The sound of a woman pleading was all too familiar for Victor and with a lump in his throat he went downstairs with John to find his dad roughly holding James’ mom. He could only stand in shock when John tried to defend his wife and ended up being shot. He was sure that didn’t go unheard by James and watched as his friend came downstairs in time to see his dad fall to the ground. What was even more shocking than that was to see what looked to be claws come out James’ hands, the look of pure anger on his face as he stabbed his real father in the chest. He watched as James was told the truth and chased after him when the youngster fled. With a look of sincerity in his eyes he promised his brother that he would take care of them, that there was nothing left here for them and that they needed to run.
He kept his promise for many years, making sure they always had food and a place to stay, even if it was only for the night. They both worked on perfecting their powers and used it to their advantage of several wars that took place around the world. No one questioned them when they instantly recovered from a bullet wound or worse. As they continued going through the motions of the war he found himself becoming bored, the excitement of fighting wearing off. The power of being able to control life and death like that began to eat away at him and without realizing he became emotionless, not caring when he took the life of someone. In his eyes, they deserved it and a slap on the wrist just wouldn’t be enough for him. He easily became bored when he wasn’t on duty but soon found ways to keep himself entertained, which mainly came in the form of the local women. It was only during the Vietnam War that he was caught by one of the superiors. Not liking to be told what to do, he had no problem with killing the man who had caught him and threatened to kick him out of the army. Of course this hadn’t gone undiscovered and he was soon sentenced to death by a firing squad. It was no surprise that James defended him and went through the execution with him.
While it wasn’t questioned before, when they both came back to life after being apparently shot to death, the army knew they needed to bring in someone to speak with them. After being put into a jail cell to keep them detained they met a man by the name William Stryker. He told them about a team he was putting together of just mutants called Team X. With nowhere else to be and as long as it meant he’d be out of the cell, he was fine with it and soon agreed along with his brother. Throughout the time he spent in Team X he never questioned their morals, only doing what he was he told and sometimes more. It became apparent that James wasn’t happy with what he was doing now, and no matter how much convincing he tried to do to keep his brother there, it didn’t work. He watched him walk off, walk away from his only family and it angered him. That only made his thirst for blood increase and he stayed on with William Stryker. It was a big blow to the team but Stryker knew they’d need to recruit more people to build the team up to higher potential. Mutants seemed to come to them, although not always willingly. As was the case with Remy LeBeau who ‘joined’ Team X when he was only 19. He was vulnerable at this age which only attracted Victor to him. As Stryker didn’t care what went on when they weren’t on missions there was no problem when Victor would confront him out of nowhere and provoke him to fight. Remy soon found out that Victor wasn’t one to lose.
Also during this time Stryker had continued to try and track down James as he was beginning experiments on mutants and felt he would be useful to said experimentations. He asked Victor to track him down, knowing he’d have more of a chance of finding him with his strong senses. In return he promised to give him adamantium claws that would only increase how immortal he was. Having felt abandoned and betrayed by James, he had no problem tracking him down and soon began his search with some help from Stryker who used his government credentials to his advantage. Knowing he was close, Stryker explained what he wanted done before they took James back. He explained who Kayla was to him and what he wanted done to her that would affect James in a very big way. He had pretended to kill James’ girlfriend, knowing that would make him quickly assume that it was done by his brother. He had been aware all along that James knew he was near by. All too quickly he realized that he had been used by Stryker to get James to come there. When it was revealed that Stryker would have never given him the adamantium; as unlike James, he wouldn’t have survived the procedure, Victor grew enraged. In his jealous anger he attempted to kill James’ girlfriend, having it end with a confrontation against his brother. But bigger things were on their plate with Weapon XI being freed as a last resort to keep Three Mile Island thriving, they fought together against the super mutant on top of the large cooling tower. After defeating Weapon XI with James he knew there was nothing left for him here, for he refused to work for someone who used him. Without a goodbye he jumped off the cooling tower, knowing the fall would be painful but he would survive. He always did.
Little did he know that he’d be recovered from the destruction only to be tossed into jail with Kayla. When asked why they had been put there, he found out that Stryker had put most if not all of the blame of the operations on them. They were soon freed, however by the mutant terrorist group called HYDRA. He had found out his brother was still alive and despite everything felt he needed to find him before Stryker did, now seeing just what the man was capable of doing. It was a difficult search and he wasn’t able to get to him before he was found by the man he had been doing his best to avoid. He was told by Stryker that he was going to get to James first and didn’t want anyone getting in his way, including Victor. Becoming knocked unconscious by Stryker’s new henchmen he was given two injections of a fluid that severely weakened his memory in his frontal lobes. Waking up in an alley way he couldn’t recall walking into, he was immediately on alert, trying to figure out how he had gotten there and if he had been attacked. His head was fuzzy and he soon realized in the haze of his confusion that he couldn’t remember some very important things. The one that worried him the most was his name; he couldn’t remember his name and hoped that the dog tag he found around his neck would help him. It had several numbers on it that meant absolutely nothing to him and the name ‘Sabretooth’. Although it wasn’t obvious at first, he began to realize his short term memory was weak at best. Leaving him sometimes forgetful. Over the course of the next few years he had began to form some vague memories, many that didn’t make much sense which mainly included gory images and weapons. There were several faces that constantly appeared to him but he couldn’t place where he knew them from. It soon didn’t matter as he moved on as best as he could in this kind of situation. Without a place to go, at least not that he could remember, he began taking up residence in motels. Most of the time paying for them by stealing money. It wasn’t the best lifestyle, but he did what he could to get by.
Crime was very tempting to him and when he soon began getting offers to commit crimes for money, he wasn’t quick to pass it up. It was on one of these jobs that he met someone that went by the name Birdy. He didn’t care to learn much about her, even if she was a mutant. He was there for the money and that’s exactly what he got afterwards.
While it did pay well, he was hardly able to use his powers against people. Victor became very lucky when he met a man named Erik Lensher, going by the name Magneto and was taken into his group of mutants. Feeling like he belonged there, he didn’t have a reason to leave especially when there was nowhere else to go. It was when he was with Magneto that he would encounter a man he hadn’t seen for many years and wouldn’t remember. He had been sent to get a young girl with the powers to take other mutants abilities but had to fight a man to try and get to her. Seeing the name tag around the man’s neck seemed to trigger something but he couldn’t hold on to the memory too long and instead backed off when the X-Men came to save them. He encountered the same man again when trying to get the same young mutant. Only this time there was back up from the Brotherhood. It didn’t seem to be of much help as he fought the man on top of the Statue of Liberty only to be thrown off by a strong, painful red blast of energy. Crashing into the same boat where the young girl had been held hostage, he was knocked unconscious and sunk along with the boat. He awoke to find himself floating on a piece of the boat in the dark ocean. Nothing seemed different except he had no place to call ‘home’ when it didn’t look like anyone was searching for him. Getting back to shore he stayed in alleys which had begun to trigger memories. He could recall being in the same situation, but wasn’t sure how long ago it was. There was a man that kept appearing in his dreams and he always seemed to be angry, angry at him.
He is still staying in New York City, living in a very cramped apartment above an abandoned building. Currently he isn’t working, especially when the Virus overtook the city. He’s getting by on stealing, mainly from drug dealers. It’s an all too easy job with just one swipe of his nails to the dealer’s neck they are killed. Continuing to have nightmares he has begun to write down what happens in them, finding a constant in them. He’s always with the man he fought twice back in the Brotherhood, who he calls Jimmy in his dreams.
