Appearance: Johnnie dresses a lot like a shy bookworm wearing clothes she finds comfortable. She’s around 5’5” and 120lbs, with greenish grey eyes that are very trusting. She’s just one of those types of people who looks like you could tell your darkest secrets to. Her brown hair can go both ways straight or curly, but her hair doesn’t stay brown for long, since she has a habit of dying her hair from time to time.
Personality: Johnnie is a happy person as long as she’s not in small places, there are times when she seems like she’s spaced out and not at all normal in the head.. It’s just her ability taking its toll on her. She tries not to talk about future events and keep to the present, but it’s a little hard for her when she always see’s things that will happen. When she gets mad, she goes very quite and puts on the silent treatment which can seem like torture for some, she never blows up on people or screams, unless she’s at the points of no return, which is very rare. She’s a bit of a music junky and loves to go out and go to concerts, but is a bit of a light weight when she drinks. Johnnie tries to be as normal as she can, but she suffers from a couple phobias and anxiety attacks.
Powers: Precognition. Johnnie only see’s things that could affect her own life, though; and nothing is ever set in stone due to people’s actions and decisions.
History: Around the time Johnnie was born Paul Briggs (a truck driver) had been hoping for another boy to name John after they had had their son, Max, in their teens. But, when they welcomed a baby girl into their family Laura Briggs (a tattoo artist) named their little bundle; Johnnie. Of course, Paul had celebrated a victory of tag football with a few buddies the night before and came into the hospital drunk when he gave her the middle name Corona. Being born in the Briggs family subjected Johnnie and her siblings to a life of being called ‘white trash’. Growing up, life wasn’t easy outside of the home, but her family was very nice, no matter what people said.
Starting school had been especially hard for Johnnie. People in town had made sure that their children didn’t play with the Briggs offspring. But, Johnnie always had the company of her brother and sister, when baby Alice was old enough. When Johnnie turned thirteen, she not only went through the change of her growing from a little girl into a young women, but her mutation had manifested at well. She had gone to her mom at first when she started to see things and then they’d happen. But Laura just told her it was déjà vu and that it was normal. For a couple months Johnnie went with this. That was until she saw her mom getting mugged and her father getting into a car accident. She had warned them both to be on alert and because of her warnings both of her parents lived through their incidents.
Paul and Laura didn’t know what to do about their daughter’s gift (already having their son as a mutant), so they didn’t do anything. They didn’t tell anyone and they kept it to themselves, just like they had done with Max, telling her school that her episodes were a case of anxiety. This didn’t help Johnnie at all with the other students. Not only were they calling her ‘white trash’ but now also a ‘loon’. The teacher’s and principle had tried contacting the parents of those of the students who teased Johnnie, but they did nothing. It had gone so far that the police were dragged in when some kids had locked Johnnie in a closet in the broiler room. She was found hours after school had ended.
After this, Paul and Laura took Johnnie out of school and home schooled her. The incident with the closet caused her to become highly claustrophobic and it really gave her some anxiety problems. Johnnie graduated from her schooling with top marks and took a job at her mom and uncles’ tattoo shop. After a year or so, Johnnie left home and traveled to California where she was allowed to show off her art in many tattoo parlors all over the state: in San Francisco, Sacramento, Pismo Beach, Los Angeles, Est. She only stayed in one place for so long, knowing that California in general wasn’t going to be the place she would settle.
She soon packed up and headed towards New York were she got a job at a nice, rustic tattoo shop. A place owned by a man named Frank. At first the job hadn’t gone too smoothly, what with all the tattooists being male and thinking she was just a little girl. But soon, the guys welcomed her with open arms after her first tat. Frank had become like her second father figure and the boys, Ronnie, Garrett, and Carl all became like brothers. They even seemed to mesh well with her family, a little thing she already knew.
Her brotherly affections changed somewhat with Garrett though when they had both gotten drunk and ended up in bed together. It hadn’t been such a surprise to Johnnie, and afterwards they tried something, but Johnnie knew Garrett wasn’t going to be the person she would be with. So she broke it off a month into the relationship. Since she was a little girl she’d always seen the man she’d be with, although her visions of him always changed and his face was always blurry, she would always meet the same man, but in different settings. She’d seen her wedding and her children… It was scary to think sometimes that she would never get there, but she tried to play out all of her visions to make sure they happen unless they’re life threatening to her family or friends, in hope that the ones with the man would come true.
Garrett and Johnnie had remained friends after the break up with no hard feelings, a great relief to the rest of the guys at work. When the Legacy virus came out, Johnnie hid away in her room in the apartment she now shares with Garrett and his girlfriend Clare. She didn’t go to work for weeks, until Frank came over and dragged her into work, giving her the pish-posh and telling her to work and that if she wanted to register she should, and if not they weren’t going to tell anybody about her gift. Although, Johnnie did register, since she wasn’t the type to go against the law.
Johnnie met a man named Edward Beaumont who came from the time 1839. She befriended him and soon had a vision of him going back to his time. She of course, ended up going with him and planned a rouse that they were engaged to keep her safe. Although, the engagement soon became real and she married Edward on the 7th of October 1839.
