Real Name: Desmond Quinn
Alias: N/A.
Age: 29
Date of birth: 7th June 1981
Nationality: Irish
Appearance: Quinn has a very laid-back appearance, a scruffy-look that seems to be a mix of personal preference and mild laziness. Adopting a mild muscular build of 5'10", Quinn has a decent frame that often sees him a little taller than most. With dark brown hair, Quinn tends to leave a day or so of stubble on his jaw at all times that only adds to his roughened style. His clothing matches this, often wearing jeans and casual shirts that has a slightly ruffled air of stylish haphazardness about them. Quinn has a number of tattoos, mainly Celtic in origin, sporting a intricate marking on his upper right shoulder, and a cross on his left forearm. He also has the acronym 'A.C.A.B' tattooed to his right knuckle. This roughened vibe is topped off by a singularly pierced ear and a coarse Irish accent.
History: Born in Cork, Ireland, Quinn was brought up by his mother and father until he turned nine, when his parents divorced and his mother, who had had an affair, moved out, leaving him with just his father and his younger brother. It was no secret to the household that his father was occasionally involved in some crime sprees when he struggled for cash; initially nothing too heavy handed, but he often helped the local crime gang, and managed to gain respect within their community. Perhaps it was inevitable that Quinn followed this road, but even his father had never wanted this lifestyle for his son.
A troublesome child, Quinn occasionally got into trouble with the police. Never anything too serious, but he was well know in the town for being one of those lads. There had never been any serious repercussions to his hi-jinks until one night, he and his mates drunkenly tried to break into an electric power station. The stupid situation ended in the worse possible way, and one of his friends touched the generator, starting the shock to all of them, but Quinn found himself taking in all the power into his body, and his friends stood unharmed whilst only he received the effects of the shock. In pain and disorientated, Quinn staggered out back onto the street, his friends shocked out of their drunken stupor. They avoided the hospital, knowing they'd come under police fire for the break-in. Quinn spent many days bedridden, suffering a fever and palpitations as his body struggled with the built up energy that he had absorbed. He did not understand that he had developed powers, and the release that came days later alarmed him, for it left his bed covers sizzled, though he was unharmed.
He began to explore these strange abilities further, slowly becoming keen to use them in his other illegal doings, albeit secretly. As Quinn grew older, the crime gang his father worked with wanted new blood and brought Quinn on board. He occasionally did jobs for them, relatively small-scale; a getaway driver, a distraction, a back-up in a shoot-out. However, it was on a normal night where things took a turn for the worse. Out on the town with his mates, he was out enjoying their weekly pub-crawl when he got involved in a brutal fight with some locals of a neighbouring gang over a turf-war. There were more of the other men, and Quinn was easily over-powered in the struggle. He fought back, but barely made an impact. Amidst all the confusion of the fighting, the beatings that had pummeled into him expelled the built up force, and with one swipe of his arm he sent one of the men hurtling across the street and into a brick wall where he fell immediately unconscious. Police were on the scene and Quinn was arrested as part of the brawl with the other men. The man he hit recovered in hospital, which helped Quinn's case. But after appearing in court, he was charged with GBH and sent to prison for a maximum of three years. He completed his sentence to two years and was released on parole for his third. But there was trouble brewing in his hometown as he was released, for old tensions hadn't been forgotten. Threats began to get exchanged, warnings left, some more dangerous than others. The men hadn't forgiven anyone, and the warring was set to continue between the rivalling gangs.
His crime-boss arranged him illegal passage out of the country at Dublin Harbour, where he could stow away in a container and lie low abroad for a while; while also doing some jobs there. After all, the drugs trade was always a rich payout. Quinn was promised by the boss that he could return home when he had 'taken care of' the other gang. However, he had stowed himself on the wrong ship, and it was not destined to Portugal like he had first thought, but instead New York, and Quinn arrived to find himself on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Surprised, but nevertheless stunned by his good fortune, he took off from the harbour to begin his new life in America, and to wait for the news from his boss.
Personality: Quinn is your typical rough and ready thug, prison having hardened these traits, rather than curbed them. Spending several years in a gang has changed the way he sees the word, made him colder and harsher. He understands loyalty differently to the rest of the word, but nevertheless, morals exist. Quinn has a bad attitude and he knows it, but he was always kept in line by his crime boss. It's only when he's let loose that he becomes cocky and arrogant, believing him to be better than everyone else in one way or another. He can be a charmer, particularly with the ladies and despite his penchant for crime, he enjoys a good time with the lads as much as anyone does. He's a firm believer of living life to the full, despite his predicaments. Though he was in a gang previously, he certainly looks out for number once, and no longer has acquaintances to consider. He does understand loyalty however, especially regarding someone close enough to be family, blood or not. Having been trying to go straight from his life of crime (or at least straighter,) Quinn feels his past is well and truly behind him and that he's come up smelling of roses in his arrival to the United States.
Powers: Quinn's powers enable him to absorb various types of energy, which then build up within him and require to be released. This can take different forms, such as kinetic energy, thermal energy and electrical energy. While he receives injuries like any other humans from such energy impact, it stores within him like a veritable battery. He can only unleash this energy in the form it entered, so, for example, the force of several physical strikes will be released by way of a temporary burst of strength and speed till the energy is expelled. He cannot keep this energy inside for too long, or else it starts to wear him down and even hurt him. Force kept within him for too long without being released can make him seriously ill.
