Name: Auden Alexa Phillips.
Alias: Perdu.
DOB/Age: February 11th, 1990; Nineteen.
Hometown: Kent, England.
Appearance: A mop of mosey brown hair often needs brushed, as well as pushed out of Auden’s equally brown eyes. Her dress sense is fairly plain, and filled with lots of Earth tone layers. No pops of color can be seen in her wardrobe, apart from maybe a dull floral print here and there. With a lanky body, Auden stands at five feet and seven inches, and is naturally almost too thin for her frame. Nonetheless, she can be somewhat pretty when she bothers to try, though that occurrence is fairly rare.
Personality: Auden has always been the type that looks fairly shy and reclusive, when in fact the former is far from the truth. She’s quick to speak her mind, and quick to make her opinion heard, though Auden at the same time isn’t up for random chit chat about the weather and celebrity gossip. She enjoys conversations with substance. Always one for the underdog, Auden lacks street smarts, in the sense that she often puts herself into situations where she’s oblivious of the consequences., all for the sack of saving a damsel in distress.
Powers: Auden can render herself either partially or completely invisible, but only upon her body, meaning that whatever clothes she wears and/or objects that she touches, remain visible. Also through her powers, she can create defensive force fields that are spherical in shape, but tend to break under strong or repeated pressure against them.
History:
Auden always liked to imagine that the first few years of her life were good. That they were like anyone elses life, with a dad that went to work, a mom that stayed home and cooked, cleaned and took care of the children, and they always sat down to eat at the same time every night. She always liked to believe, that that was how her family had been, back in the days when her mother had only one glass of wine with dinner, and her father wrote productive plays and musicals. Auden liked to believe that days like that had existed, but she had simply been too young to remember. Auden had, after all, always been a fan of fairytales.
Her father was a bit eccentric, to say the least, while her mother was a functioning alcoholic. They were loving, but lost in their own little fantasy worlds, and it was quickly decided that Auden was the parent in the Phillips household. They lived in a large old manor, where the grounds were overgrown, and books overfilled every room. The mansion was always too drafty in the winter, and too stifling in the summer, but it was home and Auden loved it just as much as her parents. Her father, Samuel had been famous in his young adult life, as he wrote successful play after play, all of which appeared on a number of London stages. Auden’s mother, Alexandra Potts on the other hand, had come from a typical middleclass family, and had dreams of becoming a ballerina, but due to a nasty fall during ice skating one winter in her teens, had never been able to earn her own glitz and glamour. So, Alexandra opted to instead live off of others fame and successes. Their entire relationship had been a whirlwind; a quick courtship, even quicker engagement and marriage, and in no time Auden had been conceived and born.
It was only after Samuel began experiencing a bout of writers block, and the invitations to extravagant parties, as well as the flow of money began to dwindle, that Alexandra began to have one too many glasses of cherry with dinner. One too many turned into a constant drunken stupor, and Samuel opted to simply spend the days locked in his study, reading and writing. Some days were better than others; when he wrote page after page, most of which was insensible garbage, he would often play various games of make believe with his daughter, all of which involved elaborate costumes, sets, and Alexandra dressed in her very best, as the audience. Sometimes Auden herself directed her parents in the play, as two star crossed lovers, or warring enemies. Despite all the names her parents were called; all the hurried whispers and taunts her family received, Auden adored and loved her parents, even with their childlike natures and personalities.
Auden took after her father, being a giant bookworm, her room was filled with stack upon stack of books, and the floor was a nightmare to get across, if you didn’t know your way in the dark. Nonetheless, her personality was entirely her mother with her outspoken, bold tongue, as well as her dry, witty sense of humor. Reclusive due to her upbringing, Auden very rarely left the grounds of the Phillips Manor. She was tutored by the same, aging, bearded man that had taught her father, and whizzed by the coursework, receiving good marks and grades.
At the age of sixteen, her powers developed. It had been during one of the late nights when Auden had remained staying up late and reading by flashlight underneath her covers. One minute she could see her fingers turning the page, and the next she simply couldn’t. Auden read enough to know of mutants and their kind, and took to her powers fairly quickly. She used them to tease her parents; to go invisible at the dinner table, or during a family walk around the back grounds. Neither her mother nor her father noticed, which only prompted Auden to use her powers even more.
Years passed, when one day it seemed to dawn on Samuel that his daughter had long ago completed her education up to the secondary level, and unknown to them her two years at college as well. Neither one of Auden’s parents had noticed the lack of tutor wandering about. Deeming it unfit for a young woman to remain in one place for so long, they out of a bout of caring for their daughter, offered to send her abroad to attend university. Auden was hesitant about the idea; was uncertain if she wanted to leave what she had grown so familiar with. Nonetheless, feeling a sudden surge of rebellion and the need to witness change, a internet search found her the Xavier Institute. Telling her parents it was a standard American university, Auden promptly packed her bags and books, and took off for the states.
