Powers: Paige has the ability to shed her outer layer of skin which can reveal a new layer or shape underneath. She can also shift into anything that doesn't exceed her body mass. Any extra mass that is left over, releases into the air around her as energy, which does return to her, when she converts back to her normal, human, form. Normally, when Paige uses her powers, she takes a Paige-like form, which she likes to do best. Paige can take on any solid form, once she has studied the texture of it, which in turn, allows her to blend in with a background. The downside of this power, is that when she goes back to her normal form, she is naked, because when she ‘husks’, her clothing goes with it. Paige can hold her new form for about an hour, before she needs to go back to her normal one. When she takes on a new form, she often takes on new physical abilities, such as strength, weight, and invulnerability. She is able to morph quite a few times in a row, but it does become painful after a while. Another downside of her powers, is that if she has had great trauma, or is in a lot of stress, she starts to ‘husk’ uncontrollably, which reveals patchwork forms. With a lot of practice, Paige is also able to ‘husk’ only parts of her body that she sees fit; such has her hand becoming glass while the rest of her is normal.
Appearance: With light blonde hair that falls just below her shoulders, and a pair of baby blues, Paige likes to think of herself of having a sense of fashion. Tall with subtle curves.
Personality: Paige is a very caring person, who helps people in need. She’s also very assertive, and is not afraid to take charge in situations she thinks she can strive in. While Paige is a sweet girl, she can also be tough, and a lot of people find that hard to believe, unless you count her brothers and sisters. One of her fears is being labeled as a “hick” because she comes from the South, which makes her feel self-conscious about anything that may cause attention to her being a Southerner. Because of that, she has practiced to lessen her thick Southern accent. Paige also tends to be an over-achiever.
History: Paige Guthrie was born into a large family. Growing up in Cumberland, Kentucky, a lot of her siblings were mutants, and she was always curious if she’d ever develop powers. Her father had died when she was young, due to a lung infection. It turned her whole family’s world upside down. Everyone had to pitch into help around the house. When her older brother Sam had decided to go to Xavier’s School, she felt jealous because she still hadn’t found out if she’d be a mutant, and was worried she’d never be one.
Finally, after all that worrying, Paige found out she was indeed a mutant. Ecstatic she wanted to go to Xavier’s school, but at the same time she felt like she couldn’t just abandon her family. So, she stayed behind and learned to control her powers. It took a lot of hard work, but it finally paid off.
When she was 18, she decided to move out of the house, unable to stay there anymore with all the stress it was putting on her, though she still lived in the same town. When her brother Jay finally went to Xavier’s school and stayed there, she has decided to leave her Southern town and go to Xavier’s in hopes of helping out, and maybe even develop her powers even further.
After living at Xavier's for almost a year, she got a message from Jono that he needed her help back in England where he was living due to mutant hate. It's been three months and the both of them are finally coming back to the Institute. (updated 12/17/10)
